Χθες το βράδυ κύριοι ξεκίνησε ο μεγαλύτερος διαδικτυακός πόλεμος στην σύντομη ιστορία του ίντερνετ!

Όπως τα λέει ο Τάσος από το milaraki.com. Το ξέραμε αλλά δεν ξέραμε το πότε.

Η μέρα έφτασε λοιπό και ο Steve Jobs  με μία επιστολή στο μετοχικό συμβούλιο της Apple ανακοίνωσε ότι παραιτείται.

Διάδοχος του είναι ο Tim Cook τον οποίο έχρισε ο ίδιος και ο οποίος εκτελούσε χρέη CEO όσο διάστημα ο Steve ήταν σε αναρρωτική άδεια.

To the Apple Board of Directors and the Apple Community:

I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple’s CEO, I would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come.

I hereby resign as CEO of Apple. I would like to serve, if the Board sees fit, as Chairman of the Board, director and Apple employee.

As far as my successor goes, I strongly recommend that we execute our succession plan and name Tim Cook as CEO of Apple.

I believe Apple’s brightest and most innovative days are ahead of it. And I look forward to watching and contributing to its success in a new role.

I have made some of the best friends of my life at Apple, and I thank you all for the many years of being able to work alongside you.

Η Apple «άνοιξε» την μεταφορά του Mobile me λογαριασμού στο iCloud και το MACINGREEK (εγώ δηλαδή), μετέφερα ήδη τον λογαριασμό μου.

Ας δούμε πως είναι η διαδικασία και τι αλλάζει.

Πριν ξεκινήσετε την όποια διαδικασία διαβάστε προσεκτικά το readme της Apple:

How to Move a MobileMe Account to the
iCloud Beta for Developers
If you have an active MobileMe account, you can now move it to iCloud. You’ll be able to keep
your me.com or mac.com email address and move your MobileMe mail, contacts, and
calendars, as well as your bookmarks, to iCloud.
Prior to moving your MobileMe account to the iCloud Beta for Developers, you should review
the iCloud release notes that cover known issues and troubleshooting tips.
To move your MobileMe account to iCloud, follow these steps:
1. Update your software
Your devices and computers must be updated to the following software versions released on or
after August 6, 2011:
• iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch: iOS 5 beta 5 or later
• Mac: OS X Lion 10.7.2 Seed (Build 11C35) or later and iCloud for OS X Lion beta 6 or later
• PC: Windows Vista or Windows 7 and iCloud Control Panel for Windows beta 4 or later
(Outlook 2007 or 2010 required for Contacts and Calendars)
Important: If you only have a free Find My iPhone account (that is, you don’t have MobileMe Mail, Contacts, and
Calendars), update your software as outlined above and go to MobileMe settings on each of your devices.
Accessing settings will automatically start the move of your Find My iPhone account to iCloud and allow you to
turn each iCloud service on or off. Your move to iCloud will be complete and you can skip the remaining steps in
this document.
2. Remove your iCloud account if you have one
Skip to step 3 if you haven’t set up an iCloud beta account.
If you already set up an iCloud test account and want to preserve its content, then follow
these steps:
• Go to iOS Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars
• Scroll to the bottom of Mail, Contacts, Calendars, tap Sync, and then tap All Events.
• Launch Calendar, tap Calendars, and tap the refresh button (curled arrow). Wait until the network
activity spinner disappears to indicate that all of your data is on the device. This may take several
minutes.  
• Launch Contacts, go to Groups, and tap the refresh button (curled arrow). Wait until the network
activity spinner disappears to indicate that all of your data is on the device.• Go to Settings > iCloud and delete the account. When prompted, choose to keep the data on your
device.
• Verify that your contacts and calendars are still present on your device.
• Repeat these steps on any other iOS device you were using to test iCloud.
• On your Macs, delete your iCloud test account from System Preferences > Mail, Contacts, Calendars
and choose to delete data from your computer if prompted.
• On your Windows PCs, sign out of your account in iCloud Control Panel.
Important: If you previously copied your MobileMe content to an iCloud test account and are preserving it as
outlined above, moving your MobileMe account to iCloud may result in duplicate contacts, calendars, and
bookmarks.
If you already set up an iCloud account and do not want to preserve its content, then follow
these steps:
• On your iOS devices, delete your iCloud test account from Settings > iCloud and choose to delete the
data on your device if prompted.
• On your Macs, delete your iCloud test account from System Preferences > Mail, Contacts, Calendars
and choose to delete data from your computer if prompted.
• On your Windows PCs, sign out of your account in iCloud Control Panel.
3. Go to Settings on each device and sign in to MobileMe
Turn on Contacts, Calendars, and Bookmarks on all your devices and computers.
• iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch: go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > MobileMe. Turn
on Contacts, Calendars, and Bookmarks.
• Mac: go to System Preferences > MobileMe > Sync tab. Turn on Contacts, Calendars, and
Bookmarks.
• PC: go to Control Panel > Network and Internet > MobileMe > Sync tab. Turn on Contacts,
Calendars, and Bookmarks.
Important: If you didn’t previously upgrade to the new MobileMe Calendar, turn off Calendar on your iOS
device(s) and choose the option to keep data on your device prior to moving. This will prevent loss of calendar
data. Read the iCloud release notes for further information.
4. Back up your data
Backup your contacts, calendars, and bookmarks by following these instructions.
5. Start the move at me.com
Open your browser and go to me.com/move to move your me.com or mac.com email address
and your mail, contacts, calendars, and bookmarks to iCloud.

iCloud Release Notes for August 6, 2011
Prior to moving your MobileMe account to the iCloud Beta for Developers, you should review
these release notes that cover known issues and troubleshooting tips.
Please file a report using the Apple Bug Reporter if you experience any bugs before or after
moving.
Accounts
• If you get an error that your account is not eligible to move to iCloud, even though you have
signed in to your MobileMe account on OS X Lion 10.7.2 Seed (Build 11C35) or later and/or
iOS 5 beta 5 or later, perform the following troubleshooting steps:
1. Your email address may not be verified. Go to AppleID.apple.com > Manage your account >
Sign in and verify your primary email address. You can also change your primary email
address, and then verify the new address. Try to sign in to me.com/move again from your
computer. If you still get an error, move on to 2. If you don’t have an iOS device, skip to 3.
2. Delete your MobileMe account on your iOS device, and then re-add your account. Try to sign
in to me.com/move from your computer’s browser again.
3. Sign out of your MobileMe account on your OS X Lion Mac, and then sign back in to your
account. Try to sign in to me.com/move again.
Note: Inactive MobileMe accounts are not qualified to move.
• All iCloud features including Mail, Contacts, Calendars, and Bookmarks should be
automatically set up on iCloud as you had them on MobileMe. Occasionally not all features
are turned on after moving. Check your settings and confirm the services you want to use are
switched on.
• Occasionally, accounts set up in iCal on a Mac (not through MobileMe System Preferences)
will not get moved. To resolve this issue, remove your MobileMe account from iCal, and then
add your iCloud account in OS X System Preferences > Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
• A secondary MobileMe account set up in Mail on a Mac (not through MobileMe System
Preferences) will not be moved automatically. After moving to iCloud, remove your secondary
MobileMe account from Mail. Then add your iCloud account in OS X System Preferences >
Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
• If you don't receive an alert on your device or computer to complete your move to iCloud, go
to settings on each device and computer. Accessing settings will automatically start the move
of your MobileMe account to iCloud and allow you to turn each iCloud service on or off.• If you have a Family Pack master account, you will lose the ability to create or delete family
member accounts once you move to iCloud. You should complete any family member
account management prior to moving.
Calendar
• If you never upgraded to the new MobileMe Calendar, make sure to turn Calendar off on your
iOS devices or computers prior to moving and choose the option to keep data on your
devices. This will prevent the loss of calendar data. You can confirm you have the new
MobileMe Calendar by signing in to me.com/calendar. If you can see your calendar, you have
upgraded to the new MobileMe Calendar and should ignore these steps. But if you see an
error page, turn OFF Calendar on each device and computer:
‣ iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch: go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > MobileMe. Turn
off Calendars and choose the option to keep data on your device.
‣ Mac: go to System Preferences > MobileMe > Sync tab. Turn off Calendars and choose the
option to keep data on your Mac.
‣ PC: go to Control Panel > Network and Internet > MobileMe > Sync tab. Turn off Calendars
and choose the option to keep data on your PC.
Contacts
• Some contacts, as well as mailing addresses within some contacts, may be duplicated after
moving to iCloud.
Find My iPhone
• Find My iPhone requires iOS 4.2 or later after moving to iCloud.
Windows
• Moving to iCloud on Windows requires that you open MobileMe Control Panel. After
completing your move from the web, open the MobileMe Control Panel to complete your
migration. If the MobileMe Control Panel was open when you performed your move, simply
quit and relaunch it.

Από εχθές το βράδυ το iCloud.com είναι online και μαζί του η Apple κυκλοφόρησε το iPhoto 9.2 beta 2 και το iWork beta με ενσωμάτωση για documents on the cloud.

Φαίνεται προσεγμένο ακόμα και σε beta φάση αν και φαντάζομαι πως θα αλλάξει πριν την τελική κυκλοφορία.

Πάρτε μια γεύση στις εικόνες από κάτω κάτω

Σύμφωνα με το macrumors.com η Apple βρίσκεται ήδη στα τελικά στάδια δοκίμων ενός πολυ λεπτού φορητού στην ίδια γραμμή με το MacBook Air. Στο ίδιο άρθρο γίνεται αναφορά στον ανταγωνισμό και στο πως αυτός προχωράει στα ultra notebooks ενώ γίνεται και μια ανάλυση για το πως θα μπορούσε αντί για Air να είναι τελικά MacBook Pro και δικαιολογεί αυτή την εικασία με βάση το πρόσφατο Mac Mini απο το οποίο αφαίρεσε το drive αλλα και την σταδιακή στροφή της Apple σε σκληρούς δίσκους τεχνολογίας SSD.

Σε αντίστοιχο άρθρο το tuaw.com πηγαίνει ένα βήμα παραπέρα αναφέροντας με σίγουρια πως θα είναι Mac Book Pro και ότι εκτός για το 15αρι υπάρχει και 17αρι στα σκαριά.

Μάλιστα ως χρονικός ορίζοντας κυκλοφορίας τοποθετείται κάπου πριν τα χριστούγεννα.

Ενδιαφέρουσα εξέλιξη και σίγουρα όχι έκπληξη. Θα ήθελα παρά πολυ να δουλεύω σε 17ρι Air

Το «Λόλα να ένα μήλο» άλλαξε σπίτι, θα τα λέμε από εδώ πλέον. Τον πρώτο καιρό ίσως βλέπεται πολλές αλλαγές. Είναι μέχρι να βρούμε μία διαρρύθμιση που να μας αρέσει.

Φυσικά και είναι ευπρόσδεκτο ότι feedback έχετε να δώσετε για το σας αρέσει και τι όχι.

Τέλος πρέπει να ευχαριστήσω και από εδώ τον Τάσσο (suicico) από το milaraki.com για την υπερπολύτιμη βοήθεια του.

Ξεκινώντας να γράψω ένα άρθρο για το πως μπορείτε να δείτε τα περιεχόμενα του (jailbroken) iPhone σας χωρίς το cyberduck (ή κάποιο άλλο πρόγραμμα) βρέθηκα μπροστά σε ένα θέμα, δε μπορούσα να δω τα κρυφά αρχεία συστήματος. Αποφάσισα λοιπόν να γράψω ένα άλλο άρθρο πρώτα για το πως μπορείτε να εμφανίζετε και και ξανακρυβετε τα αρχεία μέσα από το terminal του Leopard/Snow Leopard.

Καταρχάς φορτώστε το Terminal, θα το βρείτε στον φάκελο Applications/Utilities

Τα macγειρέματα έκαναν την αρχή και ο φίλος μου ο Τάσσος από το milaraki.com έφτιαξε και ένα installer για να αυτοματοποιήσει τη διαδικασία.

Απο το παρακάτω link λοιπόν θα κατεβάστε Ελληνικό ορθογράφο για το MS Office 2011 for Mac και μάλιστα δωρεάν. Μην ανησυχείτε, τα λέει απλά και όμορφα απλά ακολουθείστε τις οδηγίες εδώ!

Και ενώ η Ελλάδα επιτέλους απολαμβάνει το προνόμιο του να έχει στα ράφια των καταστημάτων ηλεκτρονικών ειδών το iPad μετά από πολλούς μήνες αναμονής, οι πωλήσεις του θα χαρακτηρίζονταν μάλλον «χλιαρές».

Αυτό οφείλεται πιθανότατα στην έντονη φημολογία για την έλευση του iPad 2. Ακούγεται πως σύντομα, ίσως και στα μέσα του Φεβρουαρίου, θα υπάρξει η νέα έκδοση του iOS 4.3 ,με βασικό νέο χαρακτηριστικό της το Personal Hotspot ,και μαζί με αυτήν πιθανότατα να υπάρξει κάποια επίσημη ανακοίνωση για την επόμενη γενιά του iPad με πιθανή κυκλοφορία του στην αγορά την άνοιξη του 2011. Η Apple για μια ακόμη φορά κρατάει σιγή ιχθύος για το συγκεκριμένο θέμα.

Από τον ανταγωνισμό τώρα είχαμε επίδειξη της Google του Honeycomb που θα χρησιμοποιούν το G-Slate της LG και το Xoom της Motorola. «Το Honeycomb είναι προσαρμοσμένο για τη νέα γενιά υπολογιστών σε μέγεθος ταμπλέτας» δήλωσε ο Χούγκο Μπάρα, διευθυντής του τμήματος φορητών προϊόντων της Google. Μαζί με το Honeycomb παρουσιάστηκε και το market.android.com που είναι ένα κατάστημα εφαρμογών για το Android αντίστοιχο με το App Store.

Το G-Slate της LG θα παρουσιαστεί στην αγορά των ΗΠΑ τον Μάρτιο. Θα διαθέτει οθόνη 8,9″, στο πίσω μέρος του θα έχει διπλή κάμερα για λήψη στερεοσκοπικών φωτογραφιών και βίντεο, ενώ μια ακόμη κάμερα θα υπάρχει στο μπροστινό μέρος της συσκευής για την πραγματοποίηση βιντεοκλήσεων. Η ταμπλετα θα συνοδεύεται από τα ειδικά γυαλιά με ένα κόκκινο και ένα μπλε φακό για την θέαση των στερεοσκοπικών (3D) φωτογραφιών και βίντεο.

Βλέπουμε λοιπόν πως ο ανταγωνισμός για το iPad γίνεται κάθε μέρα και πιο σκληρός. Ελπίζουμε πως τουλάχιστον οι φήμες για την ύπαρξη κάμερας στο επόμενο μοντέλο θα είναι αληθινές. Επίσης γίνεται λόγος για οθόνη υψηλότερης ανάλυσης ή ακόμα ύπαρξη και iPad με μικρότερη οθόνη 7″ αν και κάτι τέτοιο παλιότερα έβρισκε τον Steve Jobs αντίθετο. Τέλος θα δούμε αν το μεγάλο παράπονο των αγοραστών για την μη ύπαρξη θύρας USB εισακούστηκε από την κατασκευάστρια εταιρεία. Σύμφωνα με όσα ακούγονται πάντως ακόμα και αν βγει το iPad 2 στην αμερικάνικη αγορά την άνοιξη η διάθεση του στις υπόλοιπες χώρες θα γίνει σε κύματα όπως και αυτή του προκατόχου του οπότε στην Ελλάδα πιθανότατα να αργήσουμε να το δούμε.
